Huguette Tuytschaever is the wife of the popular Belgium Jazz musician Toots Thielemans. On January 30, 2017, she was with Toots’ sister Marie Francoise during the presentation of a commemorative coin featuring Toot’s print.
She was not his only wife of him but he was previously married to Nette De Greef till 1976. Huguette and Toots married in 1980 and were inseparable until death separated them.
Toots was a famed harmonica musician whose successful career includes performing with jazz greats like Miles Davis and whose solos have appeared on several film soundtracks.

During the German occupation of Belgium, he began playing the harmonica as a pastime and grew interested in jazz. His first worldwide break came in 1950 when he toured Europe with Benny Goodman.
In 1952, he came to the United States and joined Charlie Parker’s All-Stars. Throughout the years, he has collaborated with other jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, and Dinah Washington.
As well as mainstream performers such as Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel.
In 1962, he wrote and released his signature tune “Bluesette,” which became an international smash and has since become a jazz standard.
Toots has worked on film soundtracks such as “Midnight Cowboy,” “The Getaway,” and “Sugarland Express,” and his harmonica may be heard on the “Sesame Street” theme tune.
He also collaborated on several projects with legendary record producer Quincy Jones. He could also play the guitar.
In 2001, King Albert II bestowed the title of baron on him in recognition of his services to Belgium’s royal family. The National Endowment for the Arts in the United States honored him with the Jazz Master Award in 2009.
He stopped performing in 2014 when health difficulties pushed him off the stage.
